I am currently awake at midnight trying to track down an sources for the “Metal Gear Solid 2 was the first game to say the word ‘bisexual’ claim” (there are none) and trying to find any possible leads to track down earlier possible usages (Phantasmagoria 2 and a few old indie games, at this point)

Fundamentally, there are two types of pairings that get called “toxic yaoi”. One of them is your standard abuse/hurt stuff where the toxicity exists within the bounds of the relationship, and like, the members of the relationship are the ones suffering. And then, there’s the other type of toxic yaoi where it’s like. These guys are wonderfully in love. They are thriving, personally. But not the people around them. The people around them are getting murdered and tortured and suffering. But the couple’s thriving! And they’re in love! And it’s good!
